FEEDBACK is APPRECIATED
A young boy stood in darkness; his back to everything he had always known. It looked like he carried the weight of the world on his little shoulders. Yet, his small figure seemed as if it would melt away with a single hot breath. His delicate mind tinkered on the edge of insanity and nothingness. He was now a precariously unsteady existence.
The boy looked up to the ceiling and remained steady. However, the moonlight betrayed his façade. It draped in and illuminated the single tear, fragile as glass, which found its way down the little one’s cheek.
There it was again: the epitome of weakness that stared back with hateful eyes in the unforgiving mirror that bared all. Every night this ritual acutely reflected his inability; his worthlessness.
The boy couldn’t take it any longer. He hated it all. He wouldn’t ever forgive that man. Ever. But he wouldn’t ever forgive the reflection of truth which stood before him every night either.
“It was your weakness that killed them all,” he whispered to the reflection which only mimicked him.
“It’s all… your fault!” He said as his voice grew exponentially louder.
There was a sudden fast movement and crash. The shards of glass, which caught the moonlight, reflected the boy’s terrified, self-loathing eyes. Blood trickled down the young boy’s forehead as he stood there in defeat. “You’re annoying…” he whispered as he looked back at his truth which remained firm, undaunted by his attack. “You’re annoying” he uttered again before drifting off into darkness, once more.
